Workshops
OzCHI workshops aim to bring together researchers in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) to discuss and interact on a specific topic. We welcome workshops on HCI methods, practices, and other emerging areas of interest and that support active participation. Workshop organisers are required to submit a proposal for review by the due date. If the workshop proposal is accepted, organisers solicit position papers and accept responsibility for conducting the workshop.
See here for full details on workshops and the symposium.
Workshop Proposals
Submissions for workshop proposals must be no more than 4 pages and written according to the OzCHI template. The proposal must include:
- Background: A rationale for the workshop describing the issues to be addressed and goals for the workshop
- Organisers: The organisers’ names & backgrounds, including the main contact person
- Website: Details of the planned web site, including URL (if applicable)
- Workshop Structure: Details for the workshop structure including duration full day or half day), activities, timing, and resources
- Call For Participation: A 250-word Call-for-Participation (CfP) that will be posted on the OzCHI website. The CfP should describe the goals of the workshop, the selection criteria, requirements for position papers (e.g. topics to address, page length), how the papers should be submitted, and a link to the workshop website. At least one author of each accepted position paper must attend the workshop.
Workshop proposals are submitted by email to workshops.chair@ozchi.org.
Workshop Participation
It is essential the organisers of accepted workshops encourage participation and solicit position papers by widely advertising their workshop. Potential workshop participants submit a position paper to the organisers in any format or media specified by organisers. The workshop organisers will review position papers using their own criteria. Determining the final list of attendees is the responsibility of workshop organisers. Organisers should aim for a minimum of 10 and maximum of 25 participants. Workshops with low participant numbers may be cancelled.
Attendance
The workshop registration fee will be waived for up to two workshop organisers. All other organisers and participants who attend the workshop will need to pay the workshop participation fee. Workshop fees in 2015 are $150.
Proceedings
Workshop proposals will be fully reviewed and included in the OzCHI proceedings. Workshop position papers will not be included in OzCHI proceedings. However organizers are encouraged to generate their own proceedings if they wish to do so.
